Rt. 1, California - 2009

Last weekend, I was driving back from my friend Rachel's house in Pacifica, and I stopped in various places on Rt. 1 to take pictures. It was a cloudy day - well, it was when I left Pacifica; by the time I got home to Santa Cruz, it was sunny again - but there were a few bright spots of light over the ocean that were particularly nice. In this spot, I stopped to take several pictures and a man with fancier camera equipment than mine pulled into a parking spot next to me. He missed the good part of the show, though - he came after I took this. :)
I took this picture with my Kodak Z730 digital camera. (I also took pictures of it with my Canon AE-1, but I haven't finished the roll of film yet, so I can't post those until I get them back.) I've made no modifications to the file.

King Richard's Faire, Carver, MA - 2006

I put this picture in here not because the picture was particularly cool, but because I thought the subject was pretty cool. This picture was taken at King Richard's Faire in Carver, MA in 2006, I think. The birch "tree" would stay still until someone put a dollar or two into the bucket, at which point, he'd slowly (in the manner a birch tree would move if it could) reach into his container, pull out a fortune on a rolled up piece of paper, and present it to the person who'd put in the money.

I took this picture with a Kodak Z730 digital camera. The only modification I've made to the file is to crop it just a bit.

Yellowstone National Park - 1997

One of my favorite pictures from the many taken in Yellowstone National Park. If I remember correctly, it's the Yellowstone River, but I could be wrong. I always like taking pictures of running water in rivers, brooks, and streams. The water is always different and changing - never the same picture twice.

I took this with a Kodak APS camera, and the negative was converted to a digital file by my local photo store.

Fremont State Park, CA - 2007

The fog/clouds in this picture, in my opinion, are really cool. I took this picture from Fremont Peak State Park in California. Ken and I went camping there one night in August 2007. When we woke up in the morning, we were above the clouds and feeling sorry for the folks below us who couldn't see the sun.

I took this picture with a Kodak Z730 digital camera. I haven't modified the file in any way.

Atlantic Ocean (NY/RI) - 1997

I took this picture while I was on a ferry traveling from Montauk, Long Island (NY) to Rhode Island. I'm not sure exactly where I was on the trip when I took this, but I remember thinking the hazy sun over the water was cool.

Yellowstone National Park - 1997

Ah, a place I would like to go back to! This picture, taken in Yellowstone National Park, is a reminder to me of all of the things I didn't get to explore when I was there. This area is near Old Faithful - there's a walking path nearby where there are many springs and other areas of geological interest. I'd love to go back there someday and learn more. Last time I was there, I was there for only a day and a half.

This picture was taken with a Kodak APS camera, and the negative was converted to digital file by my local photo store. I haven't done anything to the digital file.

Zion National Park - 1998

This picture was taken in May of 1998 in Zion National Park. I liked the contrast between the colors of the sky and the land. I did brighten up the colors of this picture a little bit, but unless you look at the two pictures side by side, you'd never know. This is how I remember the colors. :) I really like the red rocks in Zion National Park - I was completely fascinated by the color of them. I'm originally from New England, where the dirt is a plain ol' brown color. :)
